Former factory Kawasaki and Suzuki rider Randy de Puniet and Moto2 stalwart Thomas Luthi have joined KTM's MotoGP test roster ahead of its 2017 return.
De Puniet joins KTM after a stint as test rider for Suzuki's latest MotoGP effort. The Frenchman was a works Kawasaki MotoGP rider in 2006 and '07, and subsequently raced for LCR, Pramac and Aspar during a 142-grand prix career in the premier class. Swiss rider Luthi has been a 250cc/Moto2 frontrunner since 2007, finishing in the championship's top six for the past six years. They join Luthi's Moto2 rival Mika Kallio and mid-2000s MotoGP racer Alex Hofmann on test duties for KTM. The team's new RC16 began its test programme last November, and will be developed through the 2016 season before KTM joins Yamaha, Honda, Ducati, Suzuki and Aprilia as a MotoGP manufacturer team in '17.
